Swisscom – Da Vinci

The fixed network telephone of the future

THE CHALLENGE

Swisscom wanted to launch a high end fixed VoIP phone for its fiber optics offering. The device was based on OpenPeak’s OpenFrame, an Intel Atom device with VoIP capabilities and running Flash. Several apps had to be developed specifically for the device, retrieving data from Swisscom Bluewin services, like news, radio, cinema, weather, white and yellow pages.

OUR SOLUTION

  • We evaluated the possibilities of the platform
  • We coordinated the Swisscom departments involved in the project
  • We analysed the Bluewin data sources and developed the proxy web services that communicated with the original data sources, provided access restriction and advanced caching features.
  • We created the GUI together with the Swisscom designer
  • We implemented several user applications that displayed interactive data from Swisscom’s sources (News, Radio, Weather, Cinema), the local.ch businesses & residents listing database and SBB’s railways timetable
  • We designed and implemented the welcome screen with
customizable widgets and drag and drop features.
  • We supported Swisscom in their sales activities, e.g. created an functioning online demo
  • We provided a long term support until the product end of life
